I bought this for my two year old boy for Christmas. It was a lot to put together. Luckily my husband was able to do that. Not sure if it was something I could have done. A great bike for him. He is riding it around our house until spring comes!

Parents/ Grandparents/ Loving Friends and Relatives of Young Riders... please study the promotional photos and product literature closely before purchasing the Kawasaki Mono... it might be better described as a second tricycle than a first bicycle-- mostly because it is very small (the purported 12" tires are really on 8" rims)... but also because it seems to have been proportioned for toddlers: children with shorter legs and longer torsos... the seat and handlebars are only slightly adjustable, which means that the bike will either fit your child out-of-the-box or it probably won't ever... there is only one caliper brake, the front one: the one that will flip your child over the handlebars if they apply it before the coaster brake... to stop safely, your child must learn to operate the coaster brake, so the front caliper brake becomes superfluous... the distance between the peak of the pedal travel and the middle of the seat in its uppermost position is shorter than the same measurement on two tricycles that my kids have now; so, it looks like their knees almost hit their chins when they ride this 'bicycle'... meanwhile, the distance between the middle of the seat and the grips of the handlebars is 2-3" longer than the same measurement on their tricycles; so, they have to lean forward to steer while at the same time their legs look scrunched... the assembly manual covers many different models of cycles-- except this one...! if your child is in-between 'tricycle' and 'bicycle,' then either get a Schwinn Roadster tricycle or a Huffy 16" bicycle instead of the Kawasaki Mono...

I thought my little one could ride a 16, but after a few tries I realized the 16 was just a tad big. So I got this bike, easy to assemble. Now it works great, the only concern I have is that the seatpost angle could be a bit more canted, so the rider is less upright. That would adjust the seat to handlebar distance.

My grandson loves this bike. It is sturdy and really small so it is perfect for a four year old. I would recommend this.

I bought this bike for my 4 year old son. He already learned how to ride without training wheels on his 12 inch bike, so we didn't need the training wheels that came with this bike. My one complaint about this purchase was the directions for putting it together. It came with a thick, very generic instruction manual that didn't offer me much help at all. Fortunately there weren't too many pieces and unless you've never seen a bike before it was pretty easy to figure out. Took maybe 30 minutes or so? The chain also fell off a few times when he went over bumps or off the curb, but we moved the rear wheel back and it took care of the problem easily. My son's main complaint was the lack of a kickstand but I solved that problem with a $4 one from Target that works great as an add on. Things I like about the bike are that it's basic and simple for a beginner (no hand brakes to confuse things), it is lightweight, and nice looking. One note - My son is constantly making skid marks on the sidewalks and driveway and I was shocked to see that the back tire is already balding a bit. Oops! I think that's just his fault though, not the tire.

I purchased the 22" frame which was almost 1/2 the cost of the other frames until the price went up. I used to ride Raleigh bikes with a police department. While this is not as good as the Raleigh, it is a great bike for what I paid for it. It shipped very fast too. The only issue I've have so far is that the SRAM derailleurs are a little cheap and not very smooth, but passable. I'm also not crazy about the color scheme, but again it was a lot of bike for the money. The storage rack is a bonus too. I cannot say if I would have bought it if it had been full priced, but even at full price, it seems like a good buy.

I bought this bike for my three year old son for Christmas. It was simple to assemble and easy for him to ride. The only thing that was remotely hard was getting the brake cable adjusted, I suppose that I'm not mechanically inclined on brake cables.

The photo doesn't show it, but the handle bars are spread really wide, which forces your kid to have his arms up and hands spread apart in a not-natural way. This makes it really hard to control the bike. Bad design. I'm going to see if I can buy a normal pair of handle bars because I've had the bike too long to return it. Wish I never bought it.

This seems to be a decent quality bike for our 5 year old. My husband is a professional bike builder and technician and he put the bike together in less than 30 minutes. It has a decent headset and wheels with real tires, which was important to my husband. My daughter loves it and it is pretty cute. It is a girl bike without being too girly. The white tires are very cute. We hope this bike will last a few years for our daughter.
